What is Essentrics?

Essentrics is a gentle, flowing, and complete method that combines muscle strengthening, stretching, and joint mobility. Inspired by ballet, Tai Chi, and physiotherapy, it is accessible to everyone, regardless of age or fitness level.

This method aims to:

  • Lengthen and tone muscles without stiffness.

  • Improve joint mobility and fluidity of movement.

  • Strengthen the core and stabilizing muscles, essential for balance and posture.

  • Prevent injuries and support overall health.

Why do some movements resemble ballet or Tai Chi?

  • Ballet: Plies, arabesques, leg lifts, and graceful arm movements strengthen the body, improve posture, and enhance fluidity.

  • Tai Chi: Slow, circular, controlled movements develop balance, proprioception, and mind-body awareness.

Essentrics combines the grace, fluidity, and body awareness of these disciplines in a safe and therapeutic way.

Essentrics and physiotherapy

Essentrics exercises are similar to physiotherapy because they:

  • gently strengthen and stretch muscles,

  • restore body balance,

  • improve joint mobility,

  • enhance posture and coordination.

Thus, the method is preventive, corrective, and enjoyable.

Why repeat the same movements?

  • Repetition helps the brain and body memorize proper movements.

  • Each session gradually improves posture, fluidity, strength, and mobility.

  • Consistency is key: lasting results come from repetition with correct technique, not constant variation.

Why warm up before and stretch after?

  • Before class: Warming up with dynamic, circular movements prepares the muscles safely. Static stretches on cold muscles can weaken them temporarily and increase injury risk.

  • After class: Warm muscles can be stretched to improve flexibility, release tension, and support recovery.

Balance and aging

  • Balance can start declining in your 40s and more noticeably after 65 due to: weaker stabilizing muscles, joint stiffness, slower reflexes, reduced proprioception and sensory input (vision, inner ear).

  • Possible consequences: higher risk of falls, decreased confidence, and reduced independence.

How Essentrics helps:

  • Strengthening legs, core, and stabilizing muscles.

  • Improving mobility and fluidity.

  • Stimulating proprioception and dynamic balance.

  • Building confidence and reducing fall risk.

In summary

Essentrics is a safe, therapeutic, and effective method for all ages. It:

  • improves strength, mobility, and posture,

  • enhances balance and confidence,

  • combines grace, fluidity, and mindful movement,

  • and can be practiced progressively and repetitively for lasting benefits.

It is ideal for injury prevention, overall health, and enjoyable shared experiences with friends and family.
